An 'upscale' rural toilet - the smell is horrible
A typical rural toilet - very primitive and dirty
A clean, odorless Hands4Africa Humanure toilet
The heart of a humanure system - a clean bucket
Toilets
Toilets in rural Tanzania are primitive, dirty, smell bad and contaminate the environment including the water supply. They range from simple holes in the ground to pit latrines. There are few if any septic systems.
Hands4Africa offers clean, water free toilets that do not smell. The material collected from these toilets is composted and produces fertilizer that has value. We transform a water polluting, dirty, smelly system to a clean, odor free, waterless composting system, at an extremely low cost.
The system reduces diarrheal diseases, including cholera and typhoid.
